Lauren and I are back home, safe and sound! We didn't experience any more car trouble along the way either! :) For those who are curious as to what we did, here's a brief recap of what we did on our trip!
Wednesday, August 6: Left at 7 am, drove around the beautiful Lake Superior, and stayed overnight in Wawa, Ontario
Thursday, August 7: Continued driving on the super long highway ON-17 E (it's over 430 miles long!), experienced car issues about 2 hours from Ottawa, continued through Ottawa, and ate poutine in Montreal late at night
Friday, August 8: Left Montreal and drove back to the United States, crossed the border around 3 am, found a church parking lot and slept 2 1/2 hours, drove to a rest stop and made plans for the day, slept a bit more :), drove to Camp Robindel, met up with a few Honors friends, and drove to our campground in Bar Harbor, ME
Saturday, August 9: Spent the day at the Winter Harbor Lobster Festival in Winter Harbor, ME, saw lobster boat races, enjoyed our first lobsters!, danced at a Contra dance that we weren't expecting to dance at, and met a new friend-Amy
Sunday, August 10: Traveled to Bar Harbor, ME and went whale watching (we had an INCREDIBLE experience! Ask Lauren or me for more details and to see incredible videos of a humpback whale going under our boat!), and spent the evening in Bar Harbor
Monday, August 11: Walked and hiked around Acadia National Park, visited a winery, and caught up on emails at the campground
Tuesday, August 12: Woke up ridiculously early to drive to Cadillac Mountain in Acadia to see the sunrise, drove around looking for a lighthouse that we never actually found due to a really bad map, packed up camp, left Bar Harbor for Freeport, ME, arrived at our next campground, set up camp, traveled to Portland, ME and explored the city, had AMAZING clam chowder right on the coast, took a sunset cruise and saw the local islands and lighthouses, visited the first LL Bean store, and finally went back to our campground for some sleep
Wednesday, August 13: Went to Rockland, ME and saw a puffin exhibit, went lobster fishing while on the boat "Captain Jack" with Captain Steve, ate the most amazing lobster at a local, family-owned lobster shack, shopped at a Farmer's Market that led us to two wineries, went to the wineries and enjoyed wine tastings, traveled back to Freeport for WiFi, camped out in LL Bean for hours, discovered we were in a flash flood warning and prayed our tent was still staked to the ground, cautiously made our way back to the campground, and were pleased to find the tent still intact, but a bit watery
Thursday, August 14: Packed up our very wet tent and left for Niagara Falls and arrived in Niagara Falls around 10 pm
Friday, August 15: Explored Niagara Falls through a variety of activities including: a Maid of the Mist tour, walking near the Bridal Veil Falls, viewing a documentary of the falls, and visiting an aquarium, walked to Canada to see the falls from a different viewpoint and country, paid way too much for a burger and water at the Hard Rock cafe, and left for Wisconsin
Saturday, August 16: Arrived at Mackinaw Island around 3 pm after taking a ferry from the lower part of Michigan to the island, walked around the Island, bought fudge, ate loads of said fudge ;), tried out various food and beverage options at the local restaurants and taverns, and left the island around 9 pm
Sunday, August 17: Left Mackinaw City around 7:30 am, experience more road construction in Wisconsin, finally made it to the Cheesecake Factory around 4 pm (folks, there is no better way to end a road trip than with a visit to the beloved Cheesecake Factory), sat in a parking lot for about 20 minutes to let the rain pass, and finally made it home around 6:30 pm :)
Overall, we traveled through 10 states, two countries, and drove 4426 miles. It was a fantastic experience that we will never forget!

Roadtrippin'
Friends, strangers, family members, creepers, and foes,
Welcome to our blog! Lauren and I hope to use this blog to update y'all on our crazy journey as we travel over 4000 miles round-trip in search of adventure, some good lobster, and perhaps a few wineries...
Before we begin our journey, we need to clear up a few discrepancies.
1. No, we're not 17 and yes, our parents know we're going on this trip. At least, we think they do...
2. Why Maine? Well, why NOT Maine? Maine has been on our list of places to see for a while, so we figured why not go now? It's so much easier to pack up now and leave for a few days than it will be in a few years when we have big kid jobs, student loans to pay off, and have 9 pm bedtimes.
3. What's there to do in Maine? Loads. Seriously folks. Although it doesn't really contain huge cities, we will have plenty to do. From taking whale watching tours to hiking in Acadia National Park to photographing the windjammers, we will have abundant opportunities to explore this beautiful Northeastern state. We also have plans to visit Montreal, Niagara Falls, and other popular destinations along the way.
4. We probably won't have cell phone coverage in Canada. Here's to disconnecting!
